We cannot talk for others, but here at Crown Oil, we pride ourselves on our consistently high levels of service which is all in a day’s work. Whether you’re a foreman who has a tight deadline, a farmer with a crop to get in before the cold weather sets in or a boat owner who needs to leave port urgently, our clients know that whatever their circumstances they can rely on us and our same day and next day delivery services.

We don’t just provide fuel deliveries – we also offer technical help and a wide range of fuel-related services including tank installations, fuel uplifts, tank cleans and more. Find out more by calling our expert team today on 0330 123 1444.

Do I need to be at home or onsite to take delivery?

No, you don’t need to be home or onsite, so long as our driver can access your tank with no issues. You will just need to make sure you inform your account manager of the tank location in advance and let them know where they can leave the proof of delivery receipt.

How long is your fuel tanker hose?

This depends on the type of fuel tanker sent to make your delivery. Many of our tankers hold different size hoses:

60-metre (200-foot) hose reels – Our smaller tankers carry this length hose to ensure we can access hard-to-access fuel tanks.

53-metre (175-foot) hose reels – Most of our fuel tankers are equipped with this length hose.

12-meter (40-feet) hose reels (extendable) – Our articulated oil tankers are equipped with this length hose, but this can be extended when required.

Regardless of your access restrictions, we will do our utmost best to ensure we can reach your site and have it refuelled in no time.

Is it cheaper to buy a tank and order in bulk or purchase regular smaller deliveries?

If you do not have the room to install a permanent fuel storage container or you only need small amounts of fuel on an infrequent basis, our 205-litre oil drums and 1000-litre IBCs are the perfect solution. They can be safely moved around and stored anywhere that is safe and convenient onsite.

However, if you purchase fuel regularly and you have the space to store a large oil storage tank onsite, we would recommend buying our fuels, oils or lubricants in bulk, as this will work out cheaper in the long run.

We can both supply and install a range of fuel storage tanks to suit both your fuel storage requirements and the available space you have onsite. This can help to ensure that your liquid fuels are stored safely within the legislation and kept securely to help prevent the theft of your fuels.

Can you guarantee a delivery time?

We aim to make all of our deliveries within 24-48 hours for those choosing our standard fuel delivery service. However, if you’re located within a remote location and we are in a busy period, it may take a little longer.

Upon ordering your fuel we can arrange a morning or afternoon slot with you, so you can make sure that somebody is available to receive the delivery. Your account manager will always keep you updated, that’s the beauty of our one-to-one service.

If you need your fuel within a few hours or the next day, you can take advantage of our emergency fuel delivery service. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a Sunday evening or a bank holiday Monday, we specialise in supplying out-of-hours emergency fuel deliveries to ensure you never experience downtime. Our phones are manned 365 days a year, all day long, to give you ready access to a specialist and delivery all year round.

I’m based in a remote or hard to reach location, will you be able to get to me?

We are dedicated to delivering your fuel no matter where you’re located. We have a fleet of fuel delivery vehicles and will ensure the best vehicle for the job is used to deliver your order.

For instance, if you’re in a rural location with tight and twisty roads, or your storage tank is in a hard-to-reach location, we’ll ensure we send the best-sized tanker for your location and inform the driver in advance. Our baby tankers, small tankers and emergency response vehicles are perfectly equipped to handle deliveries to sites which are in hard-to-reach locations.

When you order your fuel from Crown Oil, you should ensure that you give as much information as possible about any access restrictions our drivers may encounter. This information will then be passed on to our delivery driver so that they are aware of any issues they may encounter with your delivery location.

How long will your tanker be onsite?

That depends on how easily accessible the fuel tank is and how much fuel is being delivered. Our fuel delivery drivers will always work safely and efficiently to ensure they take up no more of your time than is necessary.

How can I let the driver know of any specific delivery requests, such as who to call upon arrival, or which entrance to use?

When ordering your fuel, your account manager will ask you for any specific information our drivers may find helpful when making your delivery. They will log these on the system which then gets communicated to your allocated driver.

We always welcome as much information as possible to make our deliveries as stress-free as possible.

My previous supplier let me down, how can I be sure you won’t do the same?

Our ultimate aim is to never let our customers down, and we have over 75 years experience doing exactly that. We offer a free fuel management service which means your account manager will monitor your fuel supplies and arrange deliveries accordingly to make sure you never run out of fuel again. That way, you can concentrate on the important areas of your business and leave the experts to your fuel orders.

I have fuel that I no longer need, can you help?

Absolutely, our sister company, Crown Oil Environmental, can collect oils and fuels that are no longer needed to eradicate the risk of damage to the environment and the inconvenience of surplus oils.

So long as you have at least 1,000 litres stored in your oil tanks, our team of engineers can uplift and remove a range of fuels and oils, all in line with current regulations. What’s more, we will always aim to recycle your waste fuels and if feasible, we will offer you a price for your surplus fuels that you no longer require.

I’ve seen that you offer a priority contract service, what does that involve?

For businesses that cannot afford to risk running low or even out of fuel, our priority contract service will enable you to truly remain at the top of our list when it comes to fuel deliveries.

By entering into an agreement with Crown Oil, we will guarantee delivery of fuel to your site anywhere in the UK within a set time limit regardless of the day, date or time. That way, you can have complete peace of mind that your business will have fast access to fuel should you face a temporary service or fuel delivery interruption.

Are your fuel tankers environmentally friendly?

Yes, all our oil tankers are run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) which cuts up to 90% of net CO2 emissions, significantly driving down our scope 1 transport emissions. We also continue to offset any remaining emissions at no cost to our customers. This means that by choosing Crown Oil as your fuel supplier, you’re reducing your scope 3 emissions.

I only need a small amount of fuel delivering, can you help?

Our minimum delivery by fuel tanker is 500 litres but we can also supply our range of fuels and oils in 205-litre barrels (45-gallon drums) and 1000-litre IBCs to suit your smaller fuel requirements.

How do I know how much fuel was delivered?

All our deliveries are monitored by the tanker’s meter, and you will receive a printed reading to show you the precise amount dispensed.

Do you offer any fuel-related support?

Yes, we have a team of experienced onsite chemists and technicians who are always available to help; just email us at technical@crownoil.co.uk or simply call 0330 107 1354 to speak to our expert fuels team!

Our range of fuel-related services include:

How long can fuels and oils be stored for?

That all depends on the type of fuel you’re storing. Generally, diesel fuel can be stored for up to 1 year without significant degradation if it’s stored in a clean, dry and cool environment. But if it’s exposed to high temperatures, moisture or other contaminants, its shelf life can be greatly reduced.

Regular maintenance is key to preserving the quality of stored diesel. That’s because diesel contains FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Esters) which attracts water, therefore increasing the likelihood of microbes forming and eventually sludge which sits at the bottom of tanks.

Advanced renewable paraffinic diesel fuels like HVO fuel can be stored for up to 10 years. Its highly controlled production process ensures a consistent and high-quality product that does not contain any esters or contamination. This means that unlike diesel, it doesn’t react with water/oxygen and prevents the formation of sludge when in storage. HVO is also resistant to diesel bug attacks, allowing it to be stored for extended periods of time.

How can I save money on fuel deliveries?

Generally, ordering fuel outside of periods of peak demand helps to keep fuel costs low as wholesale fuel prices typically increase when demand does. That’s why if it’s possible, we always recommend buying ahead of the busy winter period. Buying in bulk is a great way to avoid this too and can also see great savings! We supply a range of bulk oil tanks, allowing you to store your liquid fuels safely and in bulk.

Keeping tanks topped up to avoid a last-minute emergency delivery that’s outside of the working hours will also help.
