The long, dark nights and pumpkin-spiced lattes have returned, which can mean one thing only; the spooky season is well and truly back! But vampires and ghosts aren’t the only things causing a fright this Halloween. The climate crisis is here, and it certainly doesn’t wait for the full moon to appear. It’s transpiring in front of our eyes and leaving a devastating impact on our planet.

As the official sponsor of Division 2 Bint Racing for this season, Crown Oil is fuelling the team’s race truck and DAF XF pace truck with its 100% renewable HVO fuel for all 2021 racing events; the first taking place at Donington Park’s Convoy in the Park on the 21-22nd August.

We are absolutely over the moon to have won the UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA) Green Award for 2021, sponsored by Oilshield, a unique collaboration between European Insurance Services, Compass Environmental Consultancy and AVIVA.

We can’t expect others to make a change without leading by example, and we’re proud to be the first and only fuel supplier to run our entire delivery fleet on HVO fuel. We hope this move will showcase the fuel’s ability to perform faultlessly as a viable diesel alternative.

We are facing a global emergency. In order to stabilise climate change, net CO2 emissions need to fall to zero as soon as possible. But how can we reach this? Net zero means achieving a balance between the greenhouse gases we emit and those we remove – so, we must eliminate at least the same number of emissions as we produce.

We want to support this goal, which is why we’re thrilled to have been supporting OFTEC and UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA) in the early technical evaluation for building regulations and decarbonising home heating with HVO fuel as a viable clean-burning alternative

The government is making changes to red diesel (off-road diesel) taxation. From 1st April 2022 it is removing tax relief for red diesel for several industries – effectively a ban on red diesel for many of its current users.

Sustainability is no Longer an Option Climate change and environmental sustainability are becoming increasingly important in the minds of the modern consumer. Not only this but the UK government is set to bring forward its target for reducing emissions by almost 15 years, with a mission to reduce 78% of carbon emissions by 2035.

Alternative fuels such as HVO fuel have so far been overlooked in the government’s plan to reduce harmful emissions to net zero. We look at the drawbacks of some of the current sustainable routes being explored and delve into the benefits of switching to clean-burning, low emission fuels.
